Get to know Alumni Advisory Group member, Karen Purdy

Q: What is your current job title and what are some of your duties?

A: Recruiter, Partnerships at Facebook. I manage life-cycle recruiting process including requisition qualification, pipe lining candidates, sourcing, coordinating interviews, negotiating, closing offers, and facilitating the on-boarding process. I also work closely with client teams to understand pain points and develop strategic hiring processes.

Q: What was your favorite class at CSUMB?

A: Anatomy and Physiology

Q: Do you have any memorable moments while attending CSUMB that you would like to share?

A: One of my fondest memories comes from the softball team! I was part of the very first softball team at CSUMB and I have countless memories of trips to play games, study hours, or even our practices. These memories are ones that I cherish every day!

Q: How has CSUMB helped you get to where you are today?

A: CSUMB and the people I met during my time there, laid the groundwork for everything in my life to this point. During my time at CSUMB I learned about hard work, what’s important to me and made connections that will last me a lifetime!

Q: Do you have any helpful tips for incoming freshman/transfer students?

A: Enjoy your time there, it will be gone before you know it! Other than that, keep your head down and do the work. The teachers and staff at CSUMB want you to be a success and will do everything to help you get there!

Q: Do you have any helpful tips for new alumni entering the work force?

A: Use the resources and connections you made during your degree! These relationships will carry you a long way and it’s important to keep these relationships strong throughout the years!

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: Spend time with friends and family (when we can) outside!
