College of Business Students Win Annual CSU Student Research Competition

May 1, 2019 - Brishna Nader and Cris de los Santos received first place honors in the 33rd Annual CSU Student Research Competition held at CSU Fullerton on Friday, April 26th, and Saturday, April 27th. This CSU-wide competition showcases the innovative research and creative activities of undergraduate and graduate students across all academic programs. Brishna and Cris competed in the Business, Economics and Public Administration session with their research project entitled "The Role of Internal LOC in Driving Pro-Environmental Behavior in Hospitality". LOC stands for Locus of Control. Theirs was one of six presentations entered in that session.

Cris is a senior majoring in Sustainable Hospitality Management, while Brishna is an international student from the Netherlands, studying Marketing in the Business Administration program. The team was one of ten research teams selected to represent CSU Monterey Bay at the statewide competition. Brishna and Cris received guidance and encouragement throughout the project from College of Business faculty mentors, Dr. Jenny Lin, Dr. Angelina Nariswari.

The competition is held annually to promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity. Student participants make oral presentations before juries of professional experts from major corporations, foundations, public agencies, colleges and universities of California. The goal of the competition is to promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity. It recognizes outstanding student accomplishments from throughout the twenty-three campuses of the California State University.
