Carol Rodriguez is from Los Angeles, living in San Diego. She attended UCLA as an undergrad. She works as a Senior Director for a consumer goods company in San Diego and is looking to advance her degree by pursuing the MBA program offered at CSU Monterey Bay.

When researching schools to pursue an MBA, she notes that CSU Monterey Bay was the top online university. “What I really loved about this school was its location and how progressive it is in the area of sustainability,” she says. “Its geographic location was very attractive to me.”

Another feature of the MBA program is its online aspect which is a benefit for Rodriguez. “It helps me because I have a family, my profession, and I’m advancing my education so I can balance all three with an online program such as this one.”

Time management is Rodriguez’s main factor when balancing work and home life with this program. “Knowing what needs to happen right away, what can wait a little longer, or not waiting in some instances” are some examples of understanding priorities," Rodriguez says. “You really learn to balance. You become accustomed to the rhythm and it just becomes a steady pace after a while.”

Despite the program being online, networking opportunities are abundant and Rodriguez has taken full advantage. She has been encouraged to start an MBA club and makes note of the other events offered the program, such as happy hours where students share about courses they’ve taken. “It feels good to help others along the way and let them know about the courses I just completed for the cohorts that are behind me.”
