A fond farewell to visiting professor Kentaro Azuma

March 6, 2023

Visiting Professor Kentaro Azuma, from Ritsumeikan University in Osaka, Japan, just completed his second one-year sabbatical stay as a visiting research scholar at the College of Business (COB), CSUMB. His previous stay was 2018-2019.

Professor Azuma expressed his appreciation to Dean Shockley and the COB faculty for the opportunity to work together and share ideas.

“It has been a fantastic experience working on research projects with Nick Dahan. Nick and I presented our study on corporate philanthropic disaster response in Japan at the Business and Society 2022 conference in San Francisco.

I also greatly enjoyed interacting and exchanging ideas with COB faculty members. Special thanks to Chi-Chun Chou, Dante Di Gregorio, Gary Schneider, and Scott Fausti. Despite online meetings due to Covid, I realized that many experiences must be collected on-site. I appreciate the excellent opportunity to be physically on the CSUMB campus again.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Marylou Shockley, Dante Di Gregorio, and Shigeko Sekine (School of World Languages and Cultures) for the going-away celebration. It was a wonderful evening. I look forward to future exchanges between CSUMB and Ritsumeikan.”
