Students Receive Top Honors at CSU Student Research Competition

SEASIDE, Calif., May 1, 2019 – Ten select CSUMB student-research teams represented CSUMB at the 33rd annual CSU Student Research Competition April 26-27, 2019 at California State University, Fullerton; one team took home first-place honors.

College of Business undergraduates Brishna Nader and Cris de los Santos took home first place in the Business, Economics and Public Administration session for their research presentation on “The Role of Internal Locus Of Control in Driving Pro-Environmental Behavior in Hospitality.”

Cris de los Santos is a senior majoring in Sustainable Hospitality Management while Brishna Nader is an international student from the Netherlands who is studying Marketing in the Business Administration program. The first-place research team was mentored by College of Business assistant professor’s Jenny Lin and Angeline Nariswari.

The CSU Student Research Competition is held each spring to promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments across the 23 CSU campuses.

This system-wide competition showcases the innovative research and creative activities of CSU undergraduate and graduate students in the full range of academic programs offered by the CSU. Student participants make oral presentations before juries of professional experts from major corporations, foundations, public agencies, colleges and universities of California.
