Program Requirements

Selected by a respected committee of faculty and hospitality industry professionals, Pebble Beach Scholars represent the best in academic excellence and leadership potential. Pebble Beach Scholars are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Have a GPA of 3.3 or higher in high school (freshman applicants) or college (transfer students)
  • Act as hospitality ambassadors for Cal State Monterey Bay and Pebble Beach Company
  • Demonstrate leadership or potential to lead during academic pursuits
  • Display enthusiasm for pursuing a career in the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Demonstrate commitment to the above criteria.

Application and Interview Steps for the Pebble Beach Scholars Program

Step 1: Complete the initial scholarship application by March 1, 2024.

Step 2: Semi-finalists selected will be notified to submit additional application requirements including a resume, cover letter, and two reference contacts by March 30, 2024. All semi-finalists must have completed a CSUMB undergraduate application to be considered a finalist.

Step 3: Finalists will be invited to interview with a panel of CSUMB personnel, focusing on your academic achievements and leadership roles along with a representative from Pebble Beach Company to discuss your aspirations in the hospitality sector and your vision for your future with the company.

Step 4: Successful candidates will be notified and provided with further details on beginning their journeys as Pebble Beach Scholars by April 15, 2024.
