VPA Associate Professor of Sculpture, Installation, and Community Engaged Practice Dionicio Mendoza's sculpture in honor of victims of crime dedicated at the Monterey County Superior Courthouse in Salinas April 29.  The sculpture included a project-based curricular model that engaged students in VPA 337 - Community Infrastructure Practices through critical inquiry, ethical frameworks for community issues analysis, and reciprocal community-engaged public art practices.

Each year for nearly the last 25 years, Monterey County has invited family members and friends of victims of crime to a National Crime Victims' Rights week memorial.  This sculpture, installed outside the Monterey County Superior Courthouse, serves as a tangible symbol for the community and visitors to honor all victims.
