Undergraduate Students:
- Undergraduate students with cumulative CSUMB GPA and All-College GPA above 2.0 are in Good Academic Standing.
- Students with either a CSUMB cumulative GPA or all-college GPA below 2.0 are placed on either Academic Probation or Academic Disqualification, depending on their class level and GPA and whether or not they were previously on Academic Probation. For more information on CSUMB's Undergraduate Academic Disqualification policy, please review section 5.30 of the Academic Standing Policy.
- Students who have been placed on academic probation or who are subject to academic disqualification are notified via CSUMB email about one week after grades are posted.
- Academic Probation students are eligible to attend CSUMB but are required to complete the Back on Track advising process to help support their future success.
- Academic Disqualification results in dismissal from the university. Students may APPEAL for immediate reinstatement as described below, or may reapply to CSUMB after meeting the requirements for reinstatement.
Graduate Students: GPA above 3.0 is required for Good Academic Standing. Consult with your Graduate Program Advisor for more information.
Undergraduate students who are on Academic Probation and whose GPA is below the standards in the section 5.30 of the Academic Standing Policy (see summary table below) will be Academically Disqualified (disenrolled) at the end of Spring Semester. Academic Disqualification results in disenrollment, loss of active student status and loss of eligibility for housing, financial aid, and other student services.
