Ava Homa

Ava Homa is an award-winning novelist, writing instructor at CSUMB, journalist, and activist. Her groundbreaking novel, "Daughters of Smoke and Fire," has earned recognition as a selection in Roxane Gay's book club, received the 2020 Silver Nautilus Award, and was a finalist for the 2022 William Saroyan Prize. Her collection of short stories, "Echoes from the Other Land," was a nominee for the 2011 Frank O’Connor Short Story Prize. Holding a master’s degree in Creative Writing, Ava's writings have appeared at platforms like the Globe and Mail, BBC, Literary Hub, and Literary Review of Canada. She is also the recipient of the 2023 California Arts Council Fellowship.
