Employee Assistance Program
CSUMB recognizes that life at work and at home can be full of difficult challenges. It's important to know that you are not alone.
As a CSUMB employee, you and any member of your household can turn to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for help.
Your EAP provider is only a phone call away at 1-800-367-7474 and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This benefit is available through Empathia Pacific, Inc. to offer employees and their families information on hundreds of health and wellness topics, including:
- Stress, depression, and personal problems
- Balancing work and personal needs
- Alcohol or drug dependencies
- Family and relationship concerns
- Workplace conflicts
- Adoption Assistance
- Child and elder care resources
- Pre and postnatal concerns
- Grief
- Financial & Legal consultations
All services are kept strictly confidential. Face-to-face counseling with qualified local counselors is also available and provided at no charge. Brochures are available through Human Resources.

On October 1, 2021, Governor Gavin Newsom signed California Assembly Bill 457 (Santiago, Ch. 439, Stats. 2021) (“AB 457”). Under AB 457, Empathia Pacific, Inc. is required to amend certain contracts to include provisions relating to telehealth services. Therefore, the Specialized Health Care Service Plan Contract Amendatory Rider for AB 457 and the Combined Evidence of Coverage and Disclosure Form Amendatory Rider for AB 457 have been added to the LifeMatters website, https://members2.
