CSU Monterey Bay offers a variety of employee leave options.

Information available here is intended to provide highlights as a summary of CSUMB's employee leave options and should not be construed as a substitute for the bargaining union contracts, CSU policies or official leave documents. The Chancellor's Office leave policy technical letter (HR/Leaves 2014-02) details guidelines on a full range of leave benefits, specific to each collective bargaining contract and employee categories. Some leaves impact benefits. Available pay is specific to types of leaves, bargaining contracts, and employee categories.
With a focus on work-life balance for those who support remote learning for their children, care for the daily needs of family, and managing ongoing work demands, options for 2021 is a frequent question. Referencing leave options in the union contracts, including combinations of an alternate work schedule, partial unpaid leave, use of the Family Medical Leave (FML), and use of paid leave accruals. HR will work with administrators and employees in determining whether a request can be accommodated such as partial paid or unpaid leave, alternative and flexible work schedules, or other accommodations. How to apply for a leave of absence:
- Complete and submit a Leave of Absence Request to your appropriate administrator for any paid or unpaid leaves and all medical absences beyond 5 work days. Any change in the length of the leave must also be approved.
- Once the leave request is signed by the employee and manager, route to Human Resources for processing. Once all requirements are met, the leave will be certified by a leaves specialist and forwarded to Payroll for processing.
- Prompt attention to the leave requirements will help support a smooth transition for leave and applicable pay and benefits.
