Habitat Stewardship Project, Monterey Bay Programs

Nursery

Habitat Stewardship Project, Monterey Bay (HSPMB) propagates native plants in our greenhouse and nursery adjacent to the Watershed Institute on the Cal State Monterey Bay campus. These plants are then used in our restoration projects around Monterey County and in native plant gardens in local elementary schools. Our nursery grows 30,000 native plants every year!

This site is also home to our demonstration and learning garden, where we host volunteer trainings and school field trips.

Green Thumbs

Over the years the Greenthumbs have provided immeasurable service at the HSPMB nursery. Every week groups from all over the peninsula volunteer at the greenhouse transplanting thousands of native plants. Some of the participating groups include Gateway Center, Monterey Transition Program, Salinas Transition Program, and HOPE Services. We are so lucky to have such dedicated volunteers, we couldn't do what we do without them!
