Conditional admission application steps

Conditional Admission students will apply to the American Language and Culture Program (ALCP). After successfully passing the highest level of ALCP or fulfilling the English proficiency requirement, students will formally apply to CSUMB bachelor's degree program

Step 1: Register for a CSUMB Horizons account

Create a personal account on CSUMB Horizons application system and submit your registration. 

Step 2: Complete application form

  • Select "ALCP - ESL Program (Study English)" and "Apply for" your specific term
  • Select "Conditional Admission"
  • Complete the application and upload all required documents
Required documents

Upload all required documents to Horizons:

  • Scanned passport photo page
  • Unofficial transcript

Step 3: Receive conditional admission letter

Your application will be reviewed by Admissions and if you meet the academic requirements, you will receive a conditional admission acceptance letter. 

Step 4: ALCP

Upon arrival to CSUMB, you will be given an English placement test. Students will take courses in ALCP until they complete level 4. The duration of the program depends on English proficiency. 

Step 5: Apply for bachelor's degree

After completion of level 4 of ALCP, you will have to follow the application process for bachelor's degree. An English proficiency waiver will be sent to the Admissions office.
