- The Provost's Award;
- The Alumni Vision Award; and the
- Social Justice Award.
One student in each major is also recognized for accomplishments in service learning.
2023 Spring
The LS Department and the College of Education thank Ms. Christina Herzig for her generous support of Liberal Studies students on their journey to becoming teachers. Awardees become part of a larger community of Rezavy Award winners and are invited to reconnect during anniversary events, like this year's 10 year Anniversary Reception that will be held after the Spring 2023 Capstone Festival.
Christina Herzig is a proud CSUMB alum, having received her B.A., Liberal Studies in 2001. Soon after graduating from CSUMB, she was an elementary school teacher at Marina Vista Elementary School. Later, Christina attended Monterey Peninsula College to obtain a real estate salesperson license. She began her career as a loan processor, then rose through the ranks to become senior loan partner and finally a mortgage consultant, so she knows every aspect of the mortgage process. Christina has volunteered for the CSUMB Alumni Association, the Carmel Foundation and the Disabled Veterans Association.Christina's generous donations, in loving memory of her mother, Karen Lynn Rezavy, have provided scholarship awards for 20 Liberal Studies graduates since 2013, supporting them on their journey to becoming teachers.The Karen Lynn Rezavy Award for Community Impact Scholarship is awarded to full-time students either completing their Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies or entering their credential year in the Liberal Studies Integrated Teacher Education Program.Additionally, students must describe contributions and commitment to the community while a student, either inside or outside the classroom, that are making positive contributions to the well-being and education of children.
