School of Computing and Design
Certificate Program
The graduate certificate program is ideal for current professionals who either need a refresher on new instructional design software and technology or would rather focus on learning new technology without completing a Capstone.
The program requires only 16 units to complete and all 16 units can be rolled into the full MIST degree program if one desires to complete a full masters program. Students can take the program in either a Blended or Fully Online track based on their preference of either studying on campus or fully online.
Required Coursework
Students are required to take:
IST 522: Instructional Design (offered each fall semester)
IST 524: Instructional Technology (offered each fall semester)
IST 526: Interactive Multimedia for Instruction (offered each spring semester)
Students are required to take two of the following:
IST 501: Technology Workshop (offered each fall semester)
IST 541: Multimedia Tools II (offered each fall semester)
IST 531: Multimedia Tools I (offered each spring semester)
*Students can take as many or as few of these classes in combination with one another to complete the certificate program. The program can be completed in 2 semesters or more depending on the course schedule they build with their academic advisor.
**Students also may leave the MIST graduate program with a certificate if they have completed the course requirements above, but cannot or do not wish to complete the full masters program as they progress through their studies.
