Mission

The mission of the CSUMB Master of Science Physician Assistant program is to train highly qualified, culturally-resonant, medical providers to serve the health needs of underserved communities.

To produce a graduating class of highly competent PAs

  • First-time PANCE pass rate above the national average.
  • All students meeting graduate competencies as measured by the summative assessments.

To foster a commitment to mission-driven care for diverse and underserved communities

Indicators of success:

  • Greater than 50% of graduates working in primary care and/or underserved communities within a year of graduation based on graduate surveys.
  • 90% of students achieving a Spanish language proficiency level of 3 on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale, defined as being able to speak with sufficient accuracy and vocabulary for effective conversations in a clinical setting.
  • Diversity among the faculty, staff, and students above the national average.
  • Increased number of PAs practicing in the state and, in particular, the Monterey-Santa Cruz-San Benito tri-county region as demonstrated by graduate surveys.

ARC-PA Accreditation Status

ARC-PA has accepted the voluntary withdrawal of the California State University Monterey Bay PA Program from the ARC-PA accreditation process. Effective May 31, 2024, ARC-PA shall withdraw accreditation from the California State University, Monterey Bay PA Program. Subject to fulfillment of various obligations, the California State University Monterey Bay PA Program will remain accredited on probation through May 31, 2024. The California State University Monterey Bay PA Program will not accept any new students for enrollment. Specific questions regarding the California State University Monterey Bay PA Program and its plans should be directed to the Program Director."
