Dr. Cabral is currently a tenured Professor of public health and population health sciences at the California State University, Monterey Bay where she also completed a three-year term as department chair, 2017 - 2020. She is an epidemiologist by training and earned a Doctor of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of California, Berkeley. She is passionate about mentoring both students and junior faculty and teaches courses focused on the study of health inequalities. Her research focuses on addressing health disparities linked to health risk vulnerabilities associated with the social determinants of health. Her current research projects are in colorectal cancer prevention and control among populations of African ancestry.
