Emergency planning gets a double take this month. September is not only National Emergency Preparedness Month, it is also National Campus Safety Awareness Month. 

CSUMB Emergency Manager Ken Folsom, said students should familiarize themselves with potential hazards in their environment and in their region and prepare accordingly. The most recent winter showed residents that areas of Monterey County are susceptible to flooding. Past years have brought wildfires, while earthquakes are an ongoing possibility.

OTTERalert is an emergency alert system that sends emails, as well as texts to students’ cell phones, in the case of an emergency or natural disaster.
