Annual Dia de los Muertos festival offers art and performance
November 3, 2023
Pan dulce, hot chocolate, music, dancing, and artwork dominated by skeletons were all part of the 26th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration Thursday, Nov. 2, at the California State University, Monterey Bay Visual and Public Art complex.
A crowd of about 200 mingled while folklorico and Aztec dancers performed. Early visitors to the three-hour event had the opportunity to paint sugar skulls. Those who missed that chance could get their own faces painted with festive skull and folk art decorations.
The annual event draws student organizations and participants from across the campus and from the community.
