CSUMB’s Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library is holding its Second Annual Library Speaker Series at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in Room 1188. It will cover the history and experiences of Japanese American citizens in Monterey County, especially during the World War II incarceration period. 

Salinas resident Fran Schwamm, a member of the Tanimura farming family who was born in a Japanese American incarceration camp, and Monterey resident Larry Oda, national president of the Japanese American Citizens League, will talk about the history of Japanese American Citizens in Monterey County. 

“We're really grateful for the opportunity to share this important history with members of our local and campus communities,” said Jacqui Grallo, interim dean of the library. 

“I also want to encourage anyone who's interested in learning more to visit our institutional repository, where a digital version of the Japanese American Citizens' League of Monterey County's archival collection is available,” Grallo continued.  

Chris Hasegawa, a CSUMB founding faculty member and former dean, will moderate the talk. A reception precedes the discussion.
