Provost Katherine Kantardjieff announces that Dr. Dale Grubb will join CSU Monterey Bay on March 1, 2022, as the Associate Vice President for Academic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.
Grubb’s appointment follows a national search from a pool of highly qualified, diverse, and exceptional candidates. He brings to CSUMB a long history as an experienced and accomplished educator, researcher, and administrator.
“I want to thank the search committee and its chair, Dean Juanita Cole, for their outstanding work,” said Kantardjieff.
Grubb is currently assistant to the president at Baldwin Wallace University, where his responsibilities fall into the areas of liaison to the Board of Trustees, strategic planning, and institutional effectiveness. Prior to this appointment, he served as interim vice president for Student Affairs for one year, associate dean for the School of Social Sciences for five years, and director of Assessment for seven years at Baldwin Wallace University.
He holds the rank of tenured professor of psychology at Baldwin Wallace University. As an affiliated research scholar, he focuses his research on creativity, cognitive development, moral reasoning, and the impact of parenting on cognitive and psychosocial development.
Grubb participated in the American Council on Education Fellows program, where he worked at Xavier University with the president, provost, chief business officer, and vice president for Risk Management on various projects dealing with assessment, accreditation, and program review, as well as development of a cost-driver tool for academic program chairs.
He holds a BA from The College of Wooster, an MA from The Ohio State University, and a PhD in developmental psychology from The Ohio State University. Grubb is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for his service to teaching and leadership, and he joins the Academic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness department as a recognized academic leader.
“I would also like to express sincere appreciation to Daniel Shapiro for serving as Interim AVP for APIE for the past eight months, as well as Interim AVP for Academic Programs/Dean of University College in AY 2020-2021,” Kantardjieff said. “Dr. Shapiro has done a remarkable job during very challenging times, and we are all grateful for his service to the division and CSUMB.
“CSUMB welcomes Dr. Dale Grubb, and we look forward to introducing him to the campus community.”
