The future of agriculture at the annual Greater Vision webinar and career fair

Greater Vision, an annual, agriculture-related, public education event organized by CSU Monterey Bay and the Grower-Shipper Association Foundation , returns on Monday, Oct. 5. The focus of the talks and panel sessions, all virtual online this year, is Climate Smart Agriculture: Current Impacts, Future Projections, Essential Skills.
Greater Vision brings together ag experts, researchers, elected officials, public agencies, the public and the business community in public forums. This year, topics include the science of climate and weather in ag, and current climate and sustainability in ag.
The two-part event includes a webinar 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., starting with a fireside chat between Elizabeth Fastiggi, Amazon’s Head of Worldwide Agriculture Business Development, and Dennis Donohue, former Salinas mayor and current director of Western Growers Center for Innovation and Technology.
Other speakers include Megan Nunez, founder and CEO of Bountiful; Mike Clancy of the Monterey Chapter of the Citizen’s Climate Lobby; and Nicole Flewell, Director of Sustainability at Taylor Farms.
“The speakers are all world class,” said Shyam Kamath, Dean of CSUMB’s College of Business. “We have Amazon, Pioneer/Corteva, the seed multinational, Dole, NASA and others participating.”
Following the webinar portion is a virtual career fair, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., in which job candidates can submit resumes to prospective ag employers. CSUMB President Eduardo Ochoa will open the event with welcoming remarks and an introduction.
