Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Systems

CSUMB Police Department is proud to offer free R.A.D. Systems self-defense classes.

RAD is not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by certified RAD instructors and provide you with a workbook/reference manual. The growing, widespread acceptance of this system is primarily due to the ease, simplicity and effectiveness of our tactics, solid research, and unique teaching methodology.

All our R.A.D. instructors are nationally certified.

R.A.D. for Women

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begin with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

The RAD Systems is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. Our system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.

The class is only offered to female (assigned, transgender, identify-as) CSUMB students, staff and faculty.

R.A.D. for Men

Here, R.A.D. stands for Resisting Aggression with Defense. Participants will have the opportunity to: raise their awareness of aggressive behavior, recognize how aggressive behavior impacts their lives, learn steps to avoid aggressive behavior, consider how they can be part of reducing aggression and violence, and practice hands-on self-defense skills to resist and escape aggressive behavior directed toward them. This program is designed to empower participants to make safer choices when confronted with aggressive behavior.

R.A.D. for Men courses may be offered upon request and dependent upon sufficient enrollment.   This class is only offered to male (assigned, transgender, identify-as) CSUMB students, staff, and faculty.
