Frequently Asked Questions

When do you accept students?

The CSUMB School Psychology Program only accepts students to begin in the program each Summer. Applications open in October of the prior year and will be due February 1st.

How long is the program?

The program is a three year program. You will take a full time course load each semester in addition to a practicum component. There are courses in the first summer.

How much time does the practicum component require?

The first year you will provide evidence-based intervention, data collection, and training for 6 hours a week through the Center for Reading Diagnosis and Instruction. The second year you will be working with a school psychologist for 15 hours a week. We highly recommend that students do not plan to work full time during the second and third year of the program. The final year is a full time internship.

Can I transfer in credits?

You can transfer in up to 6 qualifying graduate credits. Transfer units will only be considered after program admission. Students will work with their advisor to go through the transfer approval process.

Is the program NASP accredited?

YES!

Do I have to be bilingual?

No, you do not.

Does my Bachelors Degree have to be in Psychology?

No, it does not.
