Master of Science Speech-Language Pathology

Application process

Thank you for your interest in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) Program. Below is a step-by-step guide on the admissions process.

  • The MS-SLP Program utilizes the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) to process applications. The applicant is responsible for submitting all application materials to CSDCAS by the deadline date.

Questions about CSDCAS can be directed to:

    Via email: csdcasinfo@csdcas.org or phone: (617) 612-2030

Materials submitted directly to the SLP program will not be accepted.

  • Once the CSDCAS deadline closes, each application will be carefully reviewed and interviews scheduled for the most qualified applicants. The interviews are designed to determine the applicant's overall fit with the program and will evaluate the applicant's knowledge of the field of speech-language pathology as well as interpersonal skills and professionalism. Interview candidates will also engage in additional tasks (e.g., writing and collaborative tasks).

Interviews are required in order to be admitted to the program.

  • After interviews, the admissions committee will complete a holistic review of all application materials. This review will include:

    • Interview with interview tasks
    • Alignment with MS-SLP and CSUMB mission, specifically the applicant's interest and experience in serving culturally and linguistically diverse communities
    • Grade point average (GPA) of undergraduate units: Minimum 3.0
    • GPA of speech pathology coursework: Minimum 3.0
    • Written response to a given prompt
    • Three (3) letters of recommendation
    • Letter of Intent
    • Certificate of Clearance
    • Basic Education Skills
  • All applicants will be notified via email of their admittance status (conditional acceptance, alternate, or denied).

All applicants admitted to the program must pay a $500 Enrollment Confirmation Fee. This non-refundable fee will be applied to tuition once enrolled in the program.

  • Admitted students must follow the guidelines on the admission letter and follow the directions by the deadlines provided within the letter. Failure to do so, may result in not being admitted to the program.

  • Admission into programs leading to licensure and credentialing does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or credential. Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or tax payer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet licensure or credentialing requirements. The CSU will not refund tuition, fees, or any associated costs, to students who determine subsequent to admission that they cannot meet licensure or credentialing requirements. Information concerning licensure and credentialing requirements are available from Department of Education and Leadership Credential Analysts: Christy Hanselka (831) 582-3638 or Chris Villanueva (831) 582-3613, 100 Campus Ctr., Bldg. 3, Seaside, CA 93955.
