TRIO Summer Academy 2023 will be held in mid-August - final dates to be announced soon! This year's Summer Academy will be on-campus, with tracks for residential students and commuter students.
The TRIO SSS programs offer a transitional summer program to help incoming freshmen adjust to college life and prepare for success at CSUMB before their first semester. Students will move into housing assignments early and participate in 5 days of activities to set them up for success in college. Participants will:- Learn about campus resources
- Become familiar with university procedures and expectations
- Do teambuilding activities with peers
- Develop independent living skills
- Assess and strengthen preparation for the academic rigor of college-level courses
- Build self-confidence & esteem
- Engage in goal setting
- Start developing a support network at CSUMB
TRIO SSS will cover ALL EXPENSES for this orientation, including meals and housing.
TRIO Summer Academy played a vital role in facilitating a peaceful, welcoming transition for me into CSUMB and the online modality. There was something so incredibly raw and heartwarming to see and experience so many people telling their stories in a way that will keep us connected more so than just classmates.
