Parking Permits

Parking permits are required 24 hours per day, seven days per week including times when classes are not in session. Valid permits must be clearly visible in the vehicle or a citation may be issued. Permits are available as Daily, Annual, Academic Term, or Semester.

Annual permit: Valid for Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter semesters (September 1-August 31)
Semester permit: Valid for a single semester
Academic term permit: Valid for consecutive Fall and Spring semesters.

Permits are valid only in posted, designated parking lots. Permits are valid in all parking spaces except North Quad, Promontory-residential parking lots, and special use spaces such as those designated for visitors, the disabled, state vehicles, and service vehicles. Permits are transferrable among vehicles driven by the permit holder

Purchase a permit

All parking permits are sold online by Parking Services and distributed by the Parking Management Bureau (PMB). After purchasing a permit online, you will be able to print a temporary permit, which will be valid for 14 days after your purchase is placed. You will receive your permanent permit in the mail within 10-14 days after your purchase is placed.

Permit sale dates

New permits go on sale at the beginning of each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). Permits can be purchased at anytime after the start of a semester at a prorated cost.

Parking of motor vehicles on the California State University Monterey Bay campus is regulated in accordance with state law (Title 5, Sections 42200 and 42201). Permission to park on the campus is granted to persons in possession of a valid parking permit subject to the conditions and limitations. Fees charged for parking permits are determined in accordance with the Board of Trustees policy.

Replacing lost or stolen permits

First replacement

The fee for the first replacement of a lost or stolen parking permit is $20 or the prorated cost of a new permit, whichever is lower

Second or subsequent replacement

The fee for the second or subsequent replacement of a lost or stolen parking permit is $20 or the prorated cost of a new permit, whichever is higher. The cost of a replacement permit may never exceed the cost of a full semester permit.

The cost of any replacement permit may be mitigated at the discretion of the Chief of Police or his designee if there is clear evidence that the loss of the permit was the result of criminal action on the part of someone other than the permit holder.
