Housing and dining
The International Programs office coordinates campus housing with Student Housing and Residential Life at CSUMB for all Exchange, Semester@ CSUMB, National Student Exchange (NSE), and first-time degree-seeking international students.

Deadline
Fall 2022: July 15, 2022
Housing assignments are first come, first served basis. Students who apply early have a greater chance to be placed according to their preferences listed on the application. The housing application* is open now.
All housing assignments are made based on:
- Age requirements
- Space availability
- Application submission date (first come, first served)
Please note that your housing preference is not guaranteed.
How to apply for housing
Step 1: Submit housing application
After you have applied, you will be assigned a CSUMB username. our CSUMB username and the password that you select, will give you access to your My Housing Dashboard student account.
Step 2: Pay reservation and application fee
Payment must be made first before housing can be assigned. It is a $150 reservation deposit and $50 non-refundable application fee. Both fees can be paid at the time of completing the housing application. The $150 fee will be credited towards your housing balance.
Note that this charge may or may not appear on your student account, but you are responsible for paying it even if it does not appear on your account.
Housing assignments are communicated in early-mid January for Spring semesters, and early-mid August for Fall semesters.
*The housing application is your chance to
- Indicate your preferences of area and room type. Preferences are not guaranteed but we will do our best to assign you according to availability.
- Request specific roommates or make no selection and we will assign them for you. Roommate preferences are not guaranteed but we will do our best to assign you together.
All rooms are assigned for New Student App applicants by Student Housing & Residential Life.
If you are a newly admitted student and are getting an error when accessing your MyHousing and you recently paid your $100 Enrollment Confirmation Fee it may take 48hrs for our system to update and make MyHousing available to you.
Some residences require meal plans and others do not. It's important to closely compare housing & meal plan options to determine what is best for you. Please note that your housing preference is not guaranteed.

- PLEASE NOTE: East Campus is very sparsely furnished. If you choose this option, please expect to purchase more household necessities than if you were to live on Main Campus (kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, Internet router & modem, etc.). East Campus is also much further from campus facilities than other options, and most students will need to take public transportation or bike to get to campus.
The university provides a high-speed wireless and wired network access, and basic cable television to CSUMB faculty, students, staff, and guests. Please note that East Campus residents will be responsible for purchasing their own modem and router for internet connection.

Dining services and meal plans
There are several dining venues on campus and meal plans are available for those who would like to grab a snack or enjoy a healthy and delicious meal! For some on-campus residences, meal plans are required. Other on-campus residences are equipped with kitchens or kitchenettes. If you live on or off campus, a variety of meal plans are available to meet your needs. Compare housing and meal plan options to decide what's right for you.
