There are many benefits to being involved with these First Year Experience positions including engaging in a comprehensive training program and facilitating high-impact First Year Experience programs. Being an FYE leader looks great on your resume or grad school application and is also a great way to meet fellow Otters and expand your social connections on campus. Make this year a memorable one by giving back to your campus community while having fun and developing your skills.
First Year Experience is looking for student leaders who would like to make a significant positive impact on the university as well as on the lives of future Otters.

| First Year Experience Intern | The purpose of the Orientation Intern is to provide peer leadership to the Otter Orientation Leader team and within the First Year Experience Office. The Orientation Intern is the pinnacle student leadership position within the First Year Experience office, serving to provide peer mentorship and support for FYE programs, student leader hiring, and training. | $16/hour | August-September |
| Den Leader | Den Leader positions are intended for returning orientation leaders. Den Leaders will have the same required training dates as Orientation Leaders, and will have additional responsibilities helping to facilitate "Den Groups" during Orientation and Otter Days training. Returning leaders do not need to fill out both applications--just one will suffice. If you are not selected as a Den Leader, you will still be eligible to be selected as an Otter Orientation Leader. | $16/hour | October-December |
| Orientation Leader | Otter Orientation Leaders work closely with groups of new students during Summer orientation sessions and Otter Days during August to help them navigate campus resources, make connections, and find a sense of belonging on campus. | $15/hour | October-January |
| OWOW Intern | The Outdoor Wilderness Orientation Workshop is CSUMB's premier outdoor orientation experience. The OWOW Intern is the primary student supporting the logistics of this program. | $15/hour | January-March |
| OWOW Leader | OWOW Leaders are hired to help facilitate the OWOW trip. Candidates for this position are expected to come from CSUMB Recreation's Outdoor Leader Program, and will be paid a daily rate during the OWOW program. | $96/day | March-May |
